TIIME IN SOUTH AFRICA: GEC

TIIME travelled to Johannesburg (Jozi for the locals), South Africa, to participate to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (http://gec.co/2017). Our contribution was

threefold:

  • Cécile coached a series of ‘agripreneurs’ who were looking for funding for their projects. From Bermuda to Turkey via Togo, all those ‘agripreneurs’ are committed to a sustainable use of Mother Earth while creating jobs. A true inspiration!

  • Hedda gave a key note speech on True Value Creation: How entrepreneurship, an engine of economic growth, could be more inclusive. The message went out loud and clear to a very receptive audience.

  • And as a grand finale, we were invited to an Investor Breakfast organized by ABAN (African Business Angels), InfoDev and the WorldBank. They brought together a cross-section of African investors (Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, Zambia, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Kenya and South Africa) to discuss the state of angel investing in Africa and debate the roadmap for the future. We were thrilled to see the collaboration between countries to create stronger business angel networks in Africa.

We both have been very inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of the conference and by the warm hospitality of our hosts. South Africa is an amazing country, and if you have the opportunity, visit the country of the cradle of humankind.
